Just had everything installed but when I turn on the system, nothing comes up on the monitor.

Here's what I have in there so far --

Asus P5LD2
P4 650 3.2Ghz w/ scythe ninja
ATI radeon x800 installed on the pci-e slot.

It's been about 2-3yrs. since my last built, not sure if there was anything I missed. Thanks in adv.

:edit:
I wanted to add that it seems like there's no power going through the system. The cpu fan is going, the light on the mobo is "on". But with the power connector connected to the cdrom drive, the tray doesn't open. And it doesn't seem like the HD spins at all.

Any suggestions?!

You need to start with the basics:

First, what PSU are you using? Does it have enough +12Vamps to power up the system?
Do you have everything plugged in correctly (such as the 4-pin CPU connector and VC moles if required)?

Then try and boot with only the CPU/HSF, VC, and one stick of RAM. If you still can't get inot BIOS, do you have any known working parts to swap out?

Thanks Ike -
I'm using a Antec SP 400W ... it's weird, once I have the power connected, shouldn't the cdrom drive bay door still open? And the HD doesn't seem to spin either .... I can try the 1 stick of ram to see if that's the problem.

Is there something with the ASUS board that I need to "enable" to turn it on? thanks.

Is your CMOS jumper in the on or off position? Something exactly like this happened to me a while back when I had to reset my CMOS and forgot to reset the jumper. If it is in the OFF position, the machine won't turn on.

Definintely try any known working components you have...

Does the fan spin as-soon-as you plug the PS into the wall or only after you press the power button? If you hold the power button in for 5 sec or so does the CPU fan go off? Sounds like a short somewhere as you should be able to open the tray even with a no post providing the PS is coming on completely.

The CPU fan only goes on when I hit the power button, then I'll have to hold the button for 5 sec before the system shutsdown.
Just an update, after resetting the mobo and CPU, the dvd tray does move in and out while the power is on. But still no video or beeps, another thing is that when I remove all the RAM, it doesn't beep either.

Make sure the processor is working / installed correctly. Sounds like the problem is in either mobo / processor (that is, if you have a speaker hooked up to the mobo. You do, right? Cause it would beep if memory isnt working)
