HELP NEEDED WITH NEW LINUX INSTALLATION, SCRAMBLED SCREEN

I have just installed caldera linux, everything is fine until it booted up, the screen is scrambled, I can't see anything. I have a geforce 2 mx400 64mb video card, caldera linux doesn't support it, is there anyway I can fix this problem?

wait did you know in advance that caldera didnt support your vid card and you installed it anyway? hmm, to my knowledge you're SOL, unless you want to jump through hoops and stuff. try a "friendlier" distro like drake, suse or RH.

After it boots up... hit CTRL-ALT-F1 or CTRL-ALT-F2 etc... that will get you another "virtual Console" .. the Graphics is on F7...

You can then login in a root, and run xf86config to redo your configuration... you can just use the generic vga driver for now...or you can go do nvidia's web site and download and install the Linux drivers for your card... they are the exact same driver code as the Windows version.. (actually the Linux 2960 is a little ahead of the windows code version 2948) and they work great.

Nvidia's Linux drivers (called modules in linux land) work GREAT. Just be careful to follow the directions.

Ps. The best way to use linux is to learn howto use the console and bash.
