Help needed with Eyefinity / Surround problem please.

I have been having problems with Eyefinity and Surround setup for awhile and I just need some advice / guidance.

I have 3 identical monitors, Asus 27 inchers. 2 of them are connected via DVI and 1 is connected Via the Active displayport dongle or whatever was called for with Eyefinity.

Randomly I will have the video card crash for a split second and turn 2 of the monitors off and it will shift the entire display from 5760x1080, back down to 1900x1080. I was having other issues with the 7970, so I decided to do a fresh install of drivers / windows and bought a 780 for Nvidia surround.

Now I have the same exact problem with the 780 as I did with the 7970, so I know it has to be user error somewhere.

Nothing is overclocked at all. i7 920, SSD, HD, 780, 3 identical monitors, 850 corsair powersupply etc.

What do I need to do to rectify this?

1 minute everything works great, and randomly 2 screens completely shut off...cant be found under control panel or anything. A quick reboot solves this problem until the next random crash. Please help me .

I've found that a lot of active displayport converters have issues staying powered. It may just be a very poor quality displayport converter. I've tried two and both have issues, though I was trying to use it with a 120hz monitor, which may have been part of the problem.

TheUnk is correct. You do not need to use the DisplayPort for Nvidia Surround. You can plug 2 monitors into the DVI ports and the other into the HDMI. Try that and see if your monitors still shut off.
