OK, I downloaded the new nVidia Det's drivers to check out how well they would work. After I DL'd the drivers I went into the control panel and deleted the old nVidia drivers.

Of course upon deletion of the old drivers, the pop up box comes up saying to restart the computer. I clicked "OK" and the my comp shut down.

Upon restart, I got the typical screen that looks all FUBAR and I figured all that I would need to do is unload the new drivers and all would be well.

After about 10 seconds a pop up screen comes up saying that "New Hardware" was found (my Gf4) would I like to install. I say "yes" and all of the sudden my screen goes crazy and I get artifacts (vertical lines) all over the screen and every time I touch my mouse, my screen blacks out for a second. I can't even read the screen it is so jumbled.

I restart comp and same thing occurs.

So I break out my trusty Vanta LT video card and pop it in, Start up and when I get to the main screen I install the new drivers and all is well. Works fine, no artifacts or distortion.

thinking I had solved it I put the GF4 back in and start it up. Same problem as before. Screen is completely unreadable and blanks out if I touch my mouse.

What have I done???? How do I undo it???

HELP

Try safe mode to uninstall the video drivers. Then cancel when it finds new hardware. Install the new drivers manually
