Help Needed: Sub + AMP

Some more information would help: What make/model/year vehicle is it? is the rest of the system stock? what type of music do you listen to?
 
Not to mention you need more than just a sub & amp. You need power/ground wires run to your engine compartment, audio cables run from headunit to amp, and maybe cables from amp to sub (not sure if those are included).

Know anyone that works at Best Buy? Get them to give you their 50-70% off discount on that stuff
 
It's a BMW X5 with a DSP sound system. It's a factory stock system like BOSE, etc.

* 4 Tweeter outputs at 15 Watts each
* 2 Mid-range outputs at 15 Watts each
* 4 Woofers outputs at 30 Watts each
* 4 Subwoofer outputs at 30 Watts each

I listen to mostly trance.

 
Not necessarily, I did an install on my friends Audi A4 with a bose system and an integrated amp. It can be done using the right interface device. On his setup I used this. Tapping into his factory woofers using these to supply the input signal for the interface, which gave the input signal to the new subwoofer amp.
 
Not terribly more complicated than a standard sub+amp install, just different. If tapping into those power and audio lines sounds likea piece of cake to you, then go for it. Otherwise get the parts yourself and find someone who has done BMW installs before. Pay them the labor to do it and move on.
 
As far as a sub+amp combo, I don't have a lot of experience with different brands and there are a lot of options.

I've got a 10" Alpine Type R DVC with an Alpine mono amp running 350W RMS and it sounds great. The 12" will emit a little more of that deep, overwhelming bass but the 10" keeps it tight & clean.

Here is what seems like a reasonable combo, but you might be able to find them separately cheaper:

The F650 amp supposedly runs 600W RMS @ 2 Ohms, which is what you'd be running at since you'll bridge the sub down to 2 Ohms I'd imagine, and the Type R is only rated to handle 500W. Shouldn't be a huge problem in the long run, depending how high you like to crank it, but check with a car audio expert.

I personally like my 10" Type R and matching it with a 300-500W mono amp shouldn't be a problem.

Remember you need an enclosure for it and some decent wires too.
 
You can get a lot of sub/amp for $500
I bought my Rockford 401S and Punch HE2 12" for less than that .. (It was a decent deal ATT though)

you snoozed.....I just sold 2 JL Audio 10W1 v2's for 130 and an xtant monoblock amp for 85 in the FS forum....

You should easily find what you need...check cardomain's fs/ft forum...you could get a great deal there....good luck.
