help needed quickly

Trying to sell our company van. A potential buyer wants a copy of the title to show his company. Not sure why, as the wife is dealing with him right now and is on the way home to get the title. Why would anyone need a copy of the title and should I give him one (with at least part of the VIN blackened out).

To prove you own it outright? I had to show a copy of the title to my credit union before they would release the funds.

The guy has told us that he is a cash buyer.

Scan it, watermark "COPY" across it and give him a copy. Make sure the quality is low enough that no one could think it's an original even without a watermark. I don't see what they would need it for, I think this should do the trick.

He would still want to know that you own it and there won't be complications in the purchase, regardless of whether he's self-financing or bank-financing. I agree with RW, make a poor copy and stop being paranoid 🙂

they have every right to see the title to make sure you own it. I'm in the process of buying a car right now and the guy isnt even the legal owner because he hasnt submitted his papers to the licensing for when he purchased it!

Don't block out the VIN number, wtf is the use? Maybe they want to run a carfax, thats what I did.

Also, the title notes VERY IMPORTANT information. The car im buying has had the odometer replaced and had a odo rollover, both noted on the title.
