HELP NEEDED: Quick hard drive= DEAD now :(

I have a western digital 80GB special edit. It was working fine up until now. WHen i try to use window expolorer to check the content, it said

"drive not formated, do you want to format it now"

I have like 30 GB's of music videos on this drive. Any help would be great.

This hard drive is connected to my raid controller on the MB.

sounds like a bad partition area or so..

take it off the raid drive, use something like lost n found (with another back up drive hooked up so you can transfer the data to) and recover...

you can format and maybe the drive will work okay.. RAID can be a pain for these things sometimes.

it's connected to the raid controller but not setup in raid. The last thing i want is to loose the data on this drive. 5 years worth of music videos.

run chkdsk.

and get out your backup tapes just in case.

when i try to run chkdsk, it said

"the type file system is RAW, chkdsk is not available for RAW drives."

no more western digital for me.

From now on, only Maxtor will do

tsk tsk how could you leave stuff on your HD for 5 years without burning it. 30 gigs is only like 5 bucks in CDs.

anyway try some software that can analyze and rebuild your FAT if possible. like norton disk doctor.
