help needed on upgrading my PC...

I have a Canyon 6XBAS-T motherboard with 900mhz celeron on it, and im going to upgrade my harddrive and RAM, becouse they are just too old and slow , (harddrive: Quatum Fireball lct08 16gigs and 3x64mb 100MHz noname RAM).
Im going to buy Western Digital Caviar WD800JB and 1x512mb 133MHz Kingston or PQI RAM (which one is better), so my question is Does my motherboard support 512mb stick(in manul it just says up to 1gigs and it has 3xDIMM slots, so logicaly thinking it should support it) and will the 133MHz frequncy be a problem on my 100MHz celeron (i can make the ram run host clock +33Mhz)
The second question is should i update my BIOS(they have one on theyr homepage with a date: 15.04.2002) or the 80gig harddrive will be no problem without the bios update?

Oh and when i have upgraded my computer what do you think witch component will be the biggest bottleneck on my system (graphic card or CPU)
My system specs are:
900MHz celeron CPU
3D Blaster GeForce 2 GTS 32mb
196mb 100MHz ram (512mb 133MHz when upgraded)

Big THANX in advance.

Sounds like a good plan to me. The 133mhz memory will work fine at 100mhz. If you hope to get your celeron to run on a 133 mhz bus, the odds aren't good.

If your board supports them, consider upgrading the cpu to a tulution celeron. Maybe a 1.1ghz, they have 256K of cache and are really the same as a pentium 3. The odds of getting it to run on a 133mhz bus are very good, too. You can probably ebay your old celeron for same as it will cost you for your new one.

As for the bios update, I would check and see what the update does for you. If it offers new features and fixes that you can use, do it. If not, why take the risk of screwing it up?

You should be on the right track with that plan. The memory will give you the best kick and the whole package should be well matched.

I had two 900's and both did 1200 with a bit of extra voltage and better hs/fan so if you can adjust voltage, then try it. All the 900's are cdo stepping so should be no difference with any of them.

Your hard drive may have a problem being recognized by the bios as there's steps at 8 and 33 gb for recognition. The memory may also have a problem with a 512mb stick as some mbs dont recognize high density ram. These are two things to be aware of. Dont update the bios unless required.
