Hey Guys,

Been a while since I've posted here.

Just built a new system as follows:

Abit BH 7 MB
Pentium 4 2.4/533 (BX80532PE2400DSL6EF/pack date 2-9-03) Retail Box and Heat sink
Memory: 2 sticks of 512MB Corsair DDR 333 XMS (CMX512-2700C2PT)
Gainward Golden Sample Ti/450 64MB 4.0nns Video Card
Antec performance plus series PLUS1080amg w/True Power 430 PS (really nice case!)
Western Digital 80 Gig 7200RPM/8MB Cache Hard Drive

Easy install without incident and system runs fantastic at stock settings. Gotta love the quiet case and CPU fan! My AMD rig next to it now stands out like a hair blower (I still like my AMD set-up!)

After years of O/C'g AMD rigs I thought I knew the rope's.

Here're my Quick Menu II Settings:

PCI Bus Frequency 133/66/33 ( this is the only thing I've palyed with so far)
Multiplier Factor at 18X (CPU locked)
Dram Ratio (CPU/Dram) : By CPU ( what dooes this do?)
Dram Ratio (CPU/Dram) by SPD
Vcore at Std Vcore
Dram Voltage at 2.55V
AGP Voltage at 1.5V

Corsair memory running at 2-2-2-5 settings ( advertised at 2-3-3-6-Ti). What does the "Ti" mean and how do you adjust it (I do not see it in the BIOS).

I believe my P4 2.6 (sl6ef) is a C1 core (right?) and should be overclockable to some degree. I can't seem to push it beyond about 2.5 without crashing the bios (then need to clear the cmos).

Is it my memory or memory settings that is holding me back? Core voltage adjustments?

What am I doing wrong? Haven't touched core voltage. Have just been adjusting the fsb. Understand the P4's are locked - so don't have the option of adjusting the multiplier (where's my rear window defogger kit..hahahah)

Thought my rig was good for O/C'g but not able yet. Would really appreciate some help on how to stretch this system out - within reason)

Thanks!

NAte

I think the dram ratio set as cpu should have it set to 1:1 ratio and therefore at even 2.5ghz which can't be much more then 137fsb the ram is way underclocked...

Also if it is truly set as spd then the ram should have ben 2,3,3,6 and not 2,2,2,5.....

try 1 stick for the time being....some boards have issues with multiple sticks...also if you use multiple sticks raise vdimm up to 2.6-2.7v...

Thanks !

Adjusted memory to 2-3-3-6

Set Vdimm at 2.65

Able to increase fsb to 140 - system fine.

When set to 144 fsb system boots fine , but getting static from on-board (abit bh7) sound card.

Any suggestions?

Follow up on my own post:

The issue was locking the PCI bus at 33 mhz !

Running my 2.4 P4 at 3.0 Ghz !! Both sticks of corsair at 167 FSB ; CPU/Dram at 1:1; default voltages(cpu and memory).

Wow, sure was easy once I figured out to lock the PCI Bus.

This BH7 loves to clock.
