My brother was playing age of mythology when all of a sudden the computers screen goes black. After that he tried restarting it and whenever we try and start it up the computer wont post anything. All we get is one long repeatitive beep, and I hear some hard drive noise. I've tried switching power supplies, processors, clearing the cmos, switching the backup battery, and running the system on its basic system, cpu, ram, and vid card yet im still getting nothing different.
The system ive tried is:

XP 1800+ or tbird 1.2 ghz
abit kg7-raid
crucial pc2100 ram
bfg ti4200 w/ 128 MB
Antec 400 W p/s or Powmax p/s
WD 80GB 7200rpm

We havent overclocked anything as well.

Any suggestions or help is appreciated. THX

I don't remember if the BIOS is AMI or Award but I think one long beep is a memory error. Try pulling the memory and reseating it.
You can go to the BIOS web sites to help you diagnose beep codes.
Good luck!

I just remembered this one. If you don't have your HSF plugged into the post on the board it will not POST. That one had me going for awhile. My HSF had a 4 prong plug so I bypassed the MB cpu fan post and the machine would not POST. When I finally figured in out I just plugged a case fan into it and the problem was solved.
Hope this helps!

so how long has it been since you had that system running stable? if this is a sudden failure, then a part must have gone bad.
remove all unnecessary cards and pheripherals to see what may be causing it.

btw, i have owned my kg7 for almost 2 years and i have rma'd it twice.
it would run stable for awhile and then have its quirks. it is currently sitting in
closet gathering dust. i refuse it use it again.

good luck with yours. abits website has a very streamlined rma system, if you need to use it.

Actually we didn't the adjust a single thing in the computer before it crapped out on us. Guessing its the motherboard though because i already tried moving the ram to different slots w/ new ram that hasnt been used and the old stuff. also switched to a proccessor that i know wasnt burned out and works for that board but didnt produce any results, and switched differen t vid cards.
actually all the fans look good to me and all run wyhile the beeping is happeneing. Ive tried the switching the hsf to the two different onboard connectores but that hsouldnt have been the problem since i didnt move anything initially, and nothign works there either.

Sounds like she's gone. Sorry to hear that. I like that board myself. Up until two weeks ago that's what I had in my system, wanna buy it? Still works great!
Maybe it's time to upgrade.😀 Well good luck with whatever you decide to do!
