Hello OC Gods...

I am new to OCing, and need help.... First time i am trying it...
See, I have an old "POS" AcerPower 6500, which i want to overclock. I know this machine is like ancient history to you guys, but this is what i HAVE to use for the next 2 months.. :( :( :(
Here is the config..

Processor:
Model Intel Pentium II (0.25 µm)
Frequency 301 MHz
Family/Model/Stepping 6/5/2
Supported External Bus Speed 66, 100 MHz, GTL+, AGTL+
Supported Multiplier 3.5x, 4.0x, 4.5x, 5.0x, 5.5x, 6.0x, 6.5x, 7.0x, 7.5x, 8.0x
Unified L2 Cache 512 KB size

Memory:
Current Memory Type DIMM, SDRAM
Installed Size 128 MB
Correctable Error Exists No
Uncorrectable Error Exists No

Motherboard:
Motherboard Model V65LA/CR
Motherboard Vendor Acer
Motherboard Version D
External Clock 66 MHz
Maximum Speed 300 MHz
Current Speed 300 MHz

On Board Devices
Device 1 ATI 3D RAGE IIC AGP (Video, Status Enabled)

The RAM installed is a new 128MB SDRAM chip (PC133). As far as i know, the computer uses this as PC100 right?? Can i overclock the Ram?
I do not want to spend on cooling as i will trash the system by the end of 2003 anyway. I have however cut a hole on the side of the case (near the RAM and Processor) and mounted an old PSU fan on it. Its connected and is working. (If that helps at all!)
Should i overclock it? And if yes, how?

Well... just opened up the stupid CPU...

And found out that Multiplier speed of my P2 is locked at 4.5, and the max my motherboard supports is 66 Mhz!!

Hence 4.5 X 66 ... = 300 Mhz

Its already running as fast it can on the current hardware!!

.....

Anything i can do with the RAM? Its a PC133 Chip...

by using the DIP switches, change the FSB to 75......see whether that works

if your mobo supports a 100mhz fsb, try upping it to that. P2 300/66's were like early celerons - easy to overclock!

The only options i see in the motherboard manual for FSB are 60 Mhz and 66 Mhz :(

You have two anti-overclocking obstacles to contend with. That mainboard has the Triton 440LX chipset. 66mhz is going to be your highend. The processor is not like the Celeron300A. Yours has the L2 cache external to the CPU. Multipliers are definitely locked. If your board had the 440BX chipset, you could attempt to run it at 100mhz. That would be doubtful because of the external L2 cache chips.

I found this page that has more information about your board.
