i need some major help here.
I just recently bought the following:

Asus A8V Deluxe
Athlon 64 3200+
512megs of OCZ pc 3200 ram
evga 6800
seagate 120 gig ata100 hdd

and im trying to install windows xp sp1 from a bootable cd. It boots fine but when i try to format the hdd and then install the os, i get a BSOD saying that my pfn_list or something or other is corrupt. I have no idea whats wrong!! I also tried installing Win2K and i get a similar BSOD.

Any suggestions?

Its probably your ram,if you have different ram to try I would give it a shot.It may not be bad but your mobo may not like it.You could also try setting the ram to more relaxed settings in the bios or the optimized defaults.I went through this before and was getting all kinds of weird errors during the install, with the errors I was getting I thought it was the hard drive or the cpu,in the end it was the ram.

Yes, I had a similar problem way back. I bought my memory from Crucial using their memory configurer (sp?). I went nuts for a while. I was using RAM with ECC checking, but my mb didn't support this type of RAM. Crucial exchanged it for me because it was their error.

yea it turns out it was the memory that was the prob.

Does anyone have an Abit AV8 socket 939 mobo that was able to use this ram?
it seems like anandtech was able to use this ram to run some of their tests using this board. but i just wanna make sure

Thx!!
