Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could please please help me.

I have a situation with my AMD 3200+ 64 90nm (Winchester) processor and MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard.

I purchased the processor first, along with a MSI K8N Neo2,, but as the 90nm chip wasn't supported and the BIOS needed flashing I was unable to do this! Soo, I was told by a online computer store that it should go straight into a K8N Neo4, as it is the lastest motherboard and the flash supports 90nm Winchester chips and standard.

Welll, I have now bought a Neo4, hooked it up and I have the exact same problem!! In that the D-Bracket LED board at the back displays 4 lit LEDs, which means "System Power ON. The D-LED will hang here if the processor is damaged or not installed properly".

When i switchj it on, I can hear the HDD initial, etc,, but the screen is blank! All fans are going (motherboard, CPU, etc), but the D-Bracket has 4 LEDs lit constantly!

I had this exact problem with the last motherboard!! Do i need to flash the BIOS to support the 90nm CPU? It is a brand new CPU with all pins straight, etc, so I 99% know this couldn't be faulty straight out of the packaging!

The motherboard details are: K8N Neo4 Series, MS-7125 (v1.x) ATX Motherboard. G52-M7125X1

PLEASE someone help me out, I'd appreciate it greatly!

Warm regards, J.G.

Hmm.. Did you try the chip in another motherboard from a different company? If the same thing happens, you know your proc has some problems.

You have several options at this point. If you havent gotten an Internal speaker yet for your PC I would go ahead and do this now. The D-bracket can be helpful but its much easier to diagnose with an internal speaker.

Next you should go ahead and try to hotflash your BIOS chip if it is possible. The computer store knows exactally what this is. Its not hard and unless they hotflash your BIOS to the latest version for free I would demand my money back. Only thing that will help you at this point would be to get the BIOS working.

On my Winchester on my K8N neo2 I had partial success with my BIOS the first run. The BIOS was unsupported but it would boot just fine with 1 dimm (stick o ram) installed in slot #1.

It worked stable and ran just long enough for me to break out the AWDflash disk. Perhaps yours will be the same

Before i would go too crazy i would check the seating of all the components. Make sure the video card, memory and such is all correct. Unplug any devices not neccissary to booting into the BIOS - remove all PCI cards and unplug the hard disk and everythign else. Use only a PS2 keyboard.

Most boards that do not support a new chip will still boot to the bios - and usually will boot to a floppy. Check everything twice!

Hi,

Thanks guys for your help!

I hooked up an old internal speaker, but nothing! It just boots up blank again with nothing from the speaker.

I don't know anyone with a AMD 64 system to try it out on unfortunately.

And I purchased my processor and motherboard from different locations.

I'm gonna try and return the processor faulty. Been trying to reach the company's support line all day!

Can someone please confirm that my Neo4 can support Winchester 90nm chips as standard!

Thanks.

Just tryed all kinds of stuff on it.

Disconnected all PC Case plugs (except for power switch), disconnected the D-Bracket, disconnected PC case usb hubs. Changed memory from slot1 to slot3.

= Still the same!

Maybe its the memory? But then why would the D-Bracket say the CPU?
My memory is Corsair Value Select 512MB 184DIMM PC3200 CL2.5 DDR memory, i'm assuming this is fine!

This is so frustrating!!!

Have you connected a power connector to the 4-pin AUX connector on near the upper right corner of the motherboard?
