Help!Need wired solution

my room is about 70ft from the room with the router. tried wireless 54mbps airlink g, i get like 9mbps and 30link quality/30signal strength and disconnected every minute or so. it works fine in the other two rooms which are about 40ft away. I know they sell 100ft ethernet cables which I am going to try, but it's not a straight shot, it might need to zig zag a bit, I would guess it would be about 125-150ft. Is it possible to buy one longer than 100ft? Or is there some way to connect two together? I plan on calling the mediacom guy out to install the cables...soon . Thanks in advance~

How do you get 9Mbit/s 70 feet away? My media rig is 30 feet away and I get 500kbits/s. Something is seriously FUBARED for me.

If you can't find a pre made cable that long, you can either buy bulk cable and it connectors to make one yourself (You will need a crimp tool.) or most computer stores have the ability to make them as well at a cost.

The Max distance you can go with CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6 is 100M or Aprox 328 Feet.

Will a Cat5e work? im not use to that name...i thought ethernet cables were like rj 45's or something

They are all cable standards. If you do a google search you can see the standards.

RJ45 is the connector, and Cat5/5e, and Cat6 is the cable type. Cat5e has higher frequency than Cat5, so, get Cat5e is you are going to route your cables longer than 100ft.
