Ok ladies (and gentlemen in touch with their feminine side), here goes...

I have no taste for this sort of thing, so try to help me pick out some jewelry for my girlfriend for Christmas. We've been going out for over a year, and she's 23.

I'd like to try to keep it under $250. Anything is game here....please help me by finding some stuff and posting links to it.

I'm not a big jewelery person but I do love simple yellow gold pieces. With that budget I'd get her something in
a simple gold necklace, ring or braclet.. forget stones, anythng in that price range would be cheezy looking ,simple gold is stunning looking on the right woman and you could get something impressive looking and with some weight to it for that price range:)

I'll see if I can dig up some links to pieces I like for you:)

definitely go with a silver or platinum thin necklace. The "in" thing right now is not the deep deep gold color. If you must get gold, get the lighter shade. Nothing says style like brilliant silver :)

Everything depends on the woman's skintone, precious metals should look "warm" against the skin ..for some women this means yellow gold ,it isn't "fashionable" if it doesn't look right next to your skin !

What's her birthstone? Maybe earings or a small pendant with that in it?

You can't go wrong with a diamond tennis bracelet, they look good with just about anything and you should be able to choose from quite a few at your price range.

It depends on the undertones to her skin some darker people have a yellowish/gold undertone to their skin.

Also to be considered is the color of any gold she already wears, some people do mix their gold colors but most don't. :)

I would go for some kind of short, necklace. by short, i mean 15" or 16" chain, almost like a choker, not something that will hang long. I also think a pretty, sterling ring from Tifany's is so, SO classic. And, it's not like it's anything "permanant" like i diamond or anything. maybe something like this?

You want my honest opinion ?

I can barely see the stone. If you want silver why not go with one of the larger pieces without a stone ? Also,
you can get more value for your money by doing your shopping at a jewelerer's exchange building or any place that sells precious metals by the gram
weight.

I'm not a lady, but I'd say - "0.02ct? WTH?"

Edit - Geekbabe beat me to it. :p

Bingo. Buy a Tiffany's box and non-Tiffany's jewelry. :D

Hmmmmm, I'm in Kansas. Not much of a jewelry wholesale market around here....

Check out other online stores. Not all women are that impressed with the Tiffany's name that you should give up
getting good value for your money just to say you got her something from there.

geekbabe,

that is true...I think it would tickle her fancy to see the Tiffany name a little, but I agree they are pricey for what you get.

like I said, not much for jewelry shopping. Can anyone recommend a good online jewelry site??
