HELP: Need info on SB live 5.1 and digital out

I am wondering if I ran the digital out from a live 5.1 card to my dolby digital 5.1 reciever and were to play mp3's in a multispeaker mode if it would replicate on the reciever side?

No, it won't by default. If you have a receiver that will produce virtual surround sound, then it might, but those modes usually sound pretty bad.

if you run mp3's in regular stereo mode, you can set the receiver to dolby surround, and it will decode in surround for ya (dolby surround decodes any normal stereo source). if fact, if you have a dvd player and output a dolby digital source, it should decode that as well.

If you have cambridge speakers, and set the Live to 4 speaker output, you will get 4 speakers the surrounds duplicating what the fronts play.
