i need an IDE driver for my cd rom to work. I formated my hd and installed 98 from the cd drive. but when the installation is finished, the D: is not registared in 98 😵 it saids that there is a problem with my primary IDE controller. I need to find the driver to try install the IDE driver...help pleaseee....

<< think its an intel...did you ever experience a problem like this? where the D: drive don't show up? >>

Yeah, once when the drive wasn't plugged in nothing came up.

So, guess that brings me to the question: Is everything plugged in properly? 😀

Only thing I can think of is check the motherboard manufacturer's website for driver updates or possibly a BIOS update as well.

I got the file name.... its Intel PIIX bus master IDE driver, but its for 95, i need the 98 version.

where can i get the update for the bios?

sounds like the noide bug to me!
Click Start, then Run... , and type regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\IOS
if you should see a value named "NoIDE". Delete it, close regedit and reboot! 🙂

I'll bet your drives show 'MSDOS Compatibility Mode' under system properties.

Go to Start/Run/ and type Regedit. Search for 'NOIDE' and delete any entry.

Reboot and your problem shoould be solved.

What MB chipset?

Drivers are at Bmdrivers

did i mention its a dvd drive?

damn it. i can't open the computer case. 🙁 this is sad... do you guys know how to open a xennon case?
