HELP!!!!!!!!!!NEED HELP FAST!!!!!!!!!

ok, my friend comes over with his computer. When he boots up, the os loads and he goes into the desktop. But then all of a sudden the computer reboots automatically and then windows loads but doesnt make it to the desktop. Right after the windows startup screen, a flash of blue appears with words. instantaneously, it reboots, the process is repeated over and over and over. WTH do we do????

Check all the heatsinks to make sure nothing came loose.... hopefully something diddnt get fried... and just make sure everything is put together properly.... check to see something is not obstructiing the hs/f fan.... generally check everything that could be related to a heat problem.

I will copy and paste and slightly modify what I just told someone else. This is a good rule of thumb of what to do when something weird is going on in windows that might be hardware related.

Stick the graphics card in there, take out everything else. don't need anything but mobo/cpu/ram/video/hard drive-- that means disconnect data cables to all cdroms and also floppy.

Press f8 as windows comes up and go to safe mode. Clean up stuff in device manager if necessary. Reboot. If windows comes up properly, shut back down and unplug power cable going to your power supply. Add all the components back 1 at a time- loading windows each time you add a component. When windows fails to come up you have the problem isolated and can work from there. Hope this helps!
