Help, need DOS compatible printer!

Hello eveyone,

I have an old DOS program at work used to run storage units. Running on Windows XP Pro 32bit.

I need a DOS compatible printer since the old HP Deskjet 610 has died.

I was looking at the P2035. link

Any suggestions? Will the printer above work?

Thanks -Jim :hmm:

DOS programs send their print jobs to an lpt port. The parallel port gets mapped to an lpt port by the bios. Or from Windows you can share a usb printer then map an lpt port to the share.

In summation, the printer you linked will work.

One company I work for we have the DOS program printing to a brand new Ricoh full size copier.

That's what I dont get. Like I stated above I have a perfectly working DeskJet 722C with a parrellel port mapped to LPT1 by default. It still won't work in the DOS program. I figured it would be "plug and play".

This guy seems to think the 722 has problems in DOS. Here - Partially Compatible Printers

That's why before I buy a $230 P2035 printer I want to be sure!

Thanks.

I've still got a Deskjet 693c in the closet from the DOS days which actually still works in recent Windows though I've only tried it on up to Windows Vista (using a printer port to USB cable). Good thing about those old Deskjets is the ink carts since several years ago can be found for dirt cheap. Actually, I used to get Staples recyle credits for almost the same as what I paid for the cartridges

I have an HP Laserjet P2015 and I can print to it from a DOS command prompt.
