Some people may think I am stupid for thinking this but I need help after this movie/series

I never had seen any anime movies and the last couple days I saw the Neon Genesis Evangelion series and movies. How do I put it, it was a little heavy for me, I didnt know what was going on at the end. Everyone dies, there is like a million questions I have now, are all anime like this?
Can anyone tell me of a good anime that everyone doesnt freakin die at the end of, I mean yea if 1 or 2 main characters die ok but everyone?!?! It wasnt just a sad ending it left me feeling depressed. Did I choose the wrong anime to be the first one that I watched or something?
Soooo I am asking for recomendations of good, anime movies/series.

Oh and not stupid kid ones please

Thanks

You might enjoy Escaflowne (series, movie was only so-so)

You also will like Berserk (noooo, noone dies in the end, whatever gave you that Idea?) . . .. the main character lives, though, and wrecks his mighty revenge (first episode should be the last, it opens with the revenge and then jumps back 15 years)

also, the giant gay sword in the first episode is ONLY in the first episode, so don't let it drive you away, as it were.

About evangelion, well, Evangelion is japanese for 'overfvckingrated' and you werent supposed to understand it because it really didn't make any sense at all.

Berserk is freaking awesome but depressing.

Neon Genesis Evangellion is the most overrated steaming pile of crap ever.

Cowboy Bebop (move & series) rocks

Noir is shaping up to be an excellet series

Samurai Deeper looks good thus far.

Jin-Roh is good

GTO is hilarious

Golden Boy is funny with a large sexual theme though ( NOT GAY sexual theme which seems to be fairly prevalent )

Golden Boy is one of the few animes I've actually seen and I really liked it. Are there only 6 episodes or are there more?

I think I might be able to handle depressing if it makes sense, does Berserk at least make sense?

I haven't seen many of them, nor am I that huge a fan, so take what I have to say however you want to

One of my fav anime is Trigun. Very odd, but quite funny. The setting is on an alien world, the society having a distinctly Steampunk look and feel to it. The reason for humans beings on that planet takes pretty much to the end of the series to be fully revealed, though. Second last episode is one of the most gripping ones I have ever seen, a most evil ending! The injoke for that series is the cat that shows up in every ep. Hee, it also has one of the greatest home made music videos that I've seen done for an anime series. Check for it on Kazza or whatever, it's set to Kid Rock's Cowboy and makes REALLY good use of the visuals in the series.

While I've only seen half of it, you might want to check out Tenchi Muyo, at least the first series. Takes until episode 14 or later for the actual plot to kick in, but until then it's quite funny. The running gag in that series is that all eps are titled "No need for X", with X varying for each ep. The character of Washuu is also one of the cooler mad scientists around.

Escaflowne, yeah that one is good. I've seen a little of it, heard more from a friend who is a huge fan of it.

Gotta second Maleficus for Goldenboy. If you can accept a guy with a constant hardon for girls and a REALLY odd toilet fetish, go for it. I tend to totally crackup during those. Art work varies from the ultra simple to the highly detailed, depending on the mood of the charcter, but for the majority of the action it's really well done.

GhettoFob, there are only 6, though we wish there were more!! :D

Berserk is amazing.

I forgot about Cowboy Bebop.

I know, its hard to get around the name. Whenever I saw it written on the CD I was overcome by shame . . . .

But its a great series and movie, noone really important dies, it makes sense, has humour, and good action .. .

AND ITS ABOUT A SPACE BOUNTY HUNTER!!!!!!11111oneoneone

Jin-Roh is also very very good, but even more depressing than Berserk.

I personally am a fan of Ranma½ and Inu Yasha. Both are fairly good as far as both humor and action go, but unfortunately they suffer from the cliche long-running series problem, namely implied love interests never being resolved, relationships staying the same from episode one, etc etc. It's kind of maddening but the rest of the series usually makes up for it. Ranma is currently running its 7th season I believe and Inu Yasha is up to episode 109 last I heard.

Cowboy Bebop is without a doubt one of the best series I've ever watched, though the end is kind of serious for how the rest of the show went. If nothing else watch Ep #20 - Pierrot le Fou. You don't have to understand anything about the series to know how cool that episode is.

Furi Kuri a.k.a. FLCL is another great one, though kinda odd and occasionally hard to follow. Only 6 episodes, but good.

Ayashi no Ceres is a fairly good show with some nice action-y stuff, a bit of a weird mystical theme and some interesting characters, overall pretty cool. Been a while since I've seen any episodes but about 2 years ago they were only at episode 15. Was a new series back then.

Gatekeepers is really hokey on the outside but inside the cheese shell there's a rather good series. I think it's meant to be that way actually.

Ebichu is like a really, really dirty Garfield crossed with South Park (mostly Kenny) and with a hamster instead of a cat.

wow, a lot of anti-evangelion fans out there...

cant blame then for having an interesting plot and much deeper character development. hideko anne's only fault is his insanity

best:
Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Love Hina, Kiddy Grade, Full Metal Panic, Dirty Pair Flash (much like kiddy grade), Chobits, Hellsing

Inuyasha, if u can put up with 118+ episodes and 3 movies
AMG is also recommended if u read the manga

average or slightly above
Outlaw Star, also has a rather nonsensical ending
Slayers

avoid Scryed
Ikkitousen and Divergence Eve -no comment
they are "interesting"

I'm currently watching
Naruto, Gundam Seed and Scrapped Princess.

I recommend watching Trigun and Cowboy Bepop for some nice sci-fi/action/comedy. Though you would'nt like the endings lol.

Kenshin (which is airing on cartoon network) is pretty good as well.

oh why is everyone ragging on NGE :-( I think it was a awesome series...
