Help! .. Need a quieter HS/Fan Solution for Athlon1.4

I know I'm not alone here...

Installed the Athlon 1.4GHz and I am using a ThermoEngine Heatsink
with the Delta Black Label Fan.. running over 7K rpm!!

yes it sounds like a 747 and yes we can hear it in the next room!
So I would love to hear suggestions and advice on how we can either
quiet it down or suggest a more quiet fan that we can
use to tame the 1.4's heat issues.

Let's hear your suggestions!

If your case cooling is adequate, you should be able to use the YS-Tech 27cfm or the Thermaltake 31cfm. Although if you want to extract the most speed out of your cpu, the Delta is hard to beat. Make sure you lap the bottom of the heatsink and use artic silver.

Thanks Rogue

I know.. hate to give up the cooling capabilities of the Delta..
But maybe a 31 cfm fan will be OK.

sheeeesh this question seems to come up rather alot. maybe anandtech should make a review on how to do it!?

i'm guessing get your case temp as low as possible and you can get away with a slower fan

or just hook up a air pipe from the a/c to ur pc 🙂

Yes this question does come up quite a bit. Here is what I purchased that Insane3D told me about. A 92mm to 60mm fan adapter. LINK. I plan on putting a 50 CFM 92mm fan on it. Will let everyone know of the cooling results vs my YSTech 60mm fan on my TaiSol 760092 HS. Perhaps this is the alternate to the loud 60mm deltas????????
