help need a processor

I have a GA-8IK1100 Rev 1.0 and need a processor for it, want something with HT.

Looking at the prescott or northwood 3.2 to 3.4
Do they both have HT?
Which is better?

Yes they both have HT.
Which one is better is a little harder to answer. For today?s games and overclocking on air, go with the Northwood. But the SSE3 instructions are only on the Prescott. Tomorrow?s software (and some of today?s) will take advantage of this SIMD set. Hell, even AMD (64Es?) will support it. I've owned both and overclocked both, Prescott is 10-20 degrees Celsius hotter but it's also faster in SuperPi, for example.

It's a great motherboard. Definatly get a northwood. Any northwood with the 800mhz FSB has hyperthreading, and the 3.06ghz with the 533fsb also has hyperthreading. The ones with a c are the 800mhz FSB ones, such as 3.0C or 2.8C. Revision 1 of that motherboard doesn't support prescotts anyway(a good thing if you ask me). I have the same board with a 3.06ghz chip, gonna build a system around it soon.
