Which one is better is a little harder to answer. For today?s games and overclocking on air, go with the Northwood. But the SSE3 instructions are only on the Prescott. Tomorrow?s software (and some of today?s) will take advantage of this SIMD set. Hell, even AMD (64Es?) will support it. I've owned both and overclocked both, Prescott is 10-20 degrees Celsius hotter but it's also faster in SuperPi, for example.
