Help...Need a PCI-Express Card to get me by

well...my brand new x1800 xt looks to be defective and im not a happy guy. i am going to be rma'ing back to zzf, but, they are out of stock on my model and who knows how long this whole thing will take.

so, now ive got this great new pc with no damn video card. my old 9700 pro is agp...no good. new epox board only has pci and pci express.

looks like i gotta get a card to get me by, till i get my new xt back.

id also like to possibly get a replacement pci-e card in my pc, before sending my xt back, to be sure it is indeed my xt that is defective and not...my motherboard etc.. figured best way to know for sure... if another video card in same pci-e slot doesnt lock up, its definately my xt. i dont have another pc available with a pci-e motherboard to test the xt.

anyways... what is my best bet for a cheap card to get me by for a couple weeks. it doesnt neccessarily need to be a great gamer, but good enough to test if it is something else wrong in my system... radeon x700 etc.. any other options..

it needs to be as cheap as possible, ive already invested over 500 in my xt...such a pain. Anyone have a decent used pci-express card for sale.....

any opinions appreciated. thanks

6600GT is the best cheap PCI-e... although a x800GTO2 can actually serve as a good card.

yeah, just go 6600gt. it gets me by. i bearly notice the difference when i play on my friends machine, he has a GTX, and everything is on max.

If you need to give another a try, see if your local Best Buy has one in stock. Just return it once you're done with the testing citing "It wasn't what I was looking for" and get a refund.

thanks guys...yeah,seems like 6600 is the way to go. i hate to drop another hundred bucks on another card, but... got no choice. i could just turn around and sell it here right... are the 6600's still selling pretty well used. i didnt see any for sale here...that would be my best bet... i hate ebay though. any ideas where i can find a decent used 6600gt...

i was thinking of the best buy idea...called em to be sure.. no returns on used video cards...sucks. i wouldnt even have minded paying a 15% restocking fee.

too bad ya cant rent video cards...hehe. sounds like a good idea to me right now.
