Whoo hoo! Getting out of work early on Thursday. 😀 Normally I don't do the Awards show thingies (would rather trade/sell for something more useful), but this time they're letting us out of work four hours early to go represent the company. This Thursday:

2003 AFI Achievement Award

Honoring Robert Deniro

The USA network is proud to premiere the 31st American Film Institute Life Achievement Award recognizing Robert Deniro?s contribution to the film industry. Robert Deniro has credits in over 60 films, and talents and versatility that make him nothing short of a genius. He encompasses raw talent, passion, and excellence in all of his work, while staying out of the spotlight and maintaining his private life. Deniro?s accomplishments include his 6 Oscar nominations and two Oscar wins in Godfather, Part II (1974) and Raging Bull (1980), his humanitarian work, and co-founding of Tribeca Productions.

The AFI Achievement Award is regarded as the highest career honor annually given to the honoree for his or her contribution to film. Previous winners include Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson, Elizabeth Taylor, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese.

This year the AFI Achievement Award show will include special live music and dance performances, and feature appearances by Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Edward Norton, Chazz Palminteri, Joe Pesci, Martin Scorsese, Ben Stiller, Meryl Streep, and Deniro?s close friends.

The AFI Achievement Award will be taped live at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood at Hollywood Blvd. and Highland.

I'm a huge Edward Norton and Deniro fan, so this should be fun. Red carpet, assigned tables, gift bags (I've always wondered what these include), and a nice dinner... I bought a few dresses of eBay and will be wearing one of them on Thursday. Please help me pick one... 😀

I'll try and sneak in a little digital camera to take pics. 🙂

Dress 1 - Traditional Chinese Cheongsam.

Dress 2 - Pink, short, butterflies (cheesy but more casual).

Dress 3 - Flowy asymmetric flowery pink dress

Dress 4 - Formal black strapless with funky lace at the bottom (I bought it cuz it was cheap)

Dress 5 - Simple white dress

Dress 6 - Simple white dress, asymm.

Dress 7 - had this since I was 18, but I think it might be too short to be appropriate

UPDATE:

Just bought another dress on eBay. She's driving over right now to drop it off at my workplace... pictures:

New dress 1

New dress 2

New dress 3

It's long and black... I'll try on the cheongsam and this dress tonight and take pictures for tomorrow. Dress with the most votes by the end of tom. will be worn on Thurs, thanks for all the feedback... 🙂

Just based on coolness factors alone, I'd say Dress 1. Chinese dresses = t3h secks4y.

Nonetheless, in order to make a more informed decision, we'll need to see pictures of yourself in order to look at factors such as body shape, skin shade, etc.

It would help to know what you look like if you wanted help picking a dress.

I'm going with my coworker, who will be wearing a dark gray/black suit. My skin color is pretty tan now after a day at Magic Mountain... hair is back to black, a bit longer than shoulder-length. The most recent pic was in that official ATOT baby pics thread... the one above was taken when I was 18.

In other words, f@pping material. 😀

Perish the thought! 😉

No, seriously. Pics. This is one time where the pics are for informational purposes instead of the usual reasons. ;-)

Dress 6 looks like it would be the one to wear...some of the others just look a bit too casual...well...the black one's cool. and the 1st one, too...hmmm.

ah....dress 6

I have an opinion like everyone else but what do you look like?

I doubt a heffer would look good in the last one, or any others.. so, what do you look like?

I have to go with the majority and say this is one of those times where pics are needed so we cvan make an informed decision. I could say go with dress X, and then see what you look like and say dress Y looks better.

Yes I did, put that picture is not what she looks like now. That is an "older" picture than her current state.

EDIT: She just posted this:

That picture's almost five years old. I don't look like that anymore. 😛 Looks like the cheongsam is in the lead. I hope I can find the shoes to match...

I think the asym dresses are nice, don't do the whole chinese dress thing, its cute and all but too asian, almost every asian girl i know wears them to any kinda formal even, its gettin a little old, the best dress as stated earlier would be 6, the asym cut on the bottom and the 1 shoulder thing is sexy and classy at the same time, its a very good mix. but it'll be impossible to really tell u unless i know how u look like.

oh yeah, if you are really tanned, go with the colored dress instead of white so that it'll offset the color of ur skin a bit.
