HELP! My P4 cpu is stuck to the retail heatsink and I can't get it off!

My new heatsink came in the mail today. When I took of the retail heatsink (w/ thermal pad) I noticed the cpu was stuck to it. In fact, I had removed the cpu without unlatching the cpu clip! To top it off, I still can't remove the cpu from the heatsink, it's like the cpu is glued on. Anyone else ever experience this? I don't know what to do. I'm afraid that if I take a heat gun to it that I'll ruin the cpu. Any ideas?

You can try the freezer trick which is put in an anti static bag place it in the fridge for a while and see if the glue then lets it go. Just make sure you let it dry after taking it out in case it gets some condensation.

i would remove the fan from the heatsink.. turn it upside down.. and assuming you have an electric stove.. turn it on low and heat the top of the heatsink until the bottom becomes a little warm and you can remove it.. that would be my suggestion .. just.. dont burn yourself or let your cpu get too hot eh?

use a hair dryer instead.. its hot enough and safer

Or put your oven on the lowest temperature next to off and put the CPU in there for two minutes, try to remove the HS, try every minute or two.
