help? my nose is getting stuffy every 4 hours

for the last 5 months my nose gets stuffy every 4 hours for some reason. ive been using nasal spray ever since and its getting annoying. its even worse trying to find a doctor to visit. all the doctors ive called arent taking patients until 2 months from now for some reason.


i went to a PA(whatever that means) a few weeks ago and she prescibed me something called predisone(or something like that) which is a steroid that slows down your immune system, plus a bottle of nasonex. the doctor visit and prescriptions cost me $75 and they did absolutly nothing.


does anyone know what might be wrong? everyone keeps telling me its allergies but i have never had this problem before plus it happens EVERYWHERE, indoors, outdoors, at work....etc.
 
You're not supposed to use nasal spray long term, as it can cause you to be reliant on it. I'm guessing this might be part of your problem.
 
Abuse Afrin and develop real problems.

Did you think to look at the dosing on the Afrin bottle? It says right on the label, discontinue use after three days.

Oh brother. PA stands for Physicians Assistant. Dude, you need to be more involved in your health and well-being. From the sound of it, you treat symptoms using medication you have no business using.
 
Stop using the over the counter nasal spray and start the medicated (nasonex) a few days later (Do not use ANYTHING except maybe saline spray for a few days after stopping the Afrin stuff) The Afrin and brands like it royally fuck up your nose after a few days. They are good for that quick relieve, but that's about it. Clariton D may help too, not the stuff that is in the aisle at Walgreens/CVS, but the stuff that is behind the counter at the pharmacy/front desk. You have to swipe/show your ID to get it and are limited to a certain number of grams per month due to gay ass meth laws. Stupid meth-heads have to screw up our medicine privileges. Get the 24 Hour version and I think you can buy a 15 pack every 15 days.
 
Are you sure it's not allergies? Pick yourself up a box of Zyrtec-D (or the generic equivalent). If the antihistamine + psuedoephedrine doesn't clear you up, that would lead me to believe that it's something else. Also, have you tried a humidifier? If you live in a dry area you might just be stuffy from all the dry air. You might want to consider picking yourself up a cheap humidifier for your house to see if it helps.
 
thanks for everyone replies. the nasonex does nothing for me, so if i only used that, my nose would not clear up and get stuffy pretty fast. i also bought a humidifer it did not help. also im not sure if its allergies or not. i was reading up about it and read an article that stated there is some kind of test that the doctor can do to determine if your allergic to anything. the PA did not do this and instead have me some nasonex + drugs which did nothing.



and im not sure its allergies. like i said this happens everywhere and everytime. i was at a customers data center for 8 hours staight and it was happening. if it is allergies id sure as hell like to know what it is.

I had a problem with not getting airflow through my nostrils and it wasn't because they were stuffed, it was because of a deviated septum. Are you sure your nose is clogged with mucous, and not just suffering from restricted airflow?

Anyway, definitely see an ENT. They're specialists, they can get to the bottom of this. Just make sure you find a good one who cares about you - some specialists treat their patients like cattle and will try to convince you that you need a procedure you don't need so they can make another payment on their summer house. Get a 2nd opinion before doing anything drastic. If you're near NYC, I can recommend the best ENT in the city.

i used a nasal spray for a very long time and could not breathe well without it. i stopped cold turkey one day, and only use it when i have am actually sick.

i am now nasal spray free, and i breathe just fine. learn to blow your nose 😛
