I bought a system from cyberpowerpc.com
It was priced well and I got to basically customize the parts I bought. So I figure hey why not.
Well..... First thing I notice is that the software that comes with the board reports high voltages on the 12+ and 5+ range. I think this is just some strange sideffect because FIC says not to worry about it and that the board doesn't really support voltage monitoring. Weird...
Next my hdd starts to click. It started during boot and shutdown mostly. It sounds like the hdd head smacking against something and then sorta bouncing around. When it makes the sound the hdd light sometimes pegs (depending on if your actually using the hdd at that moment or not) and the system chokes for a second.
So I replace the hdd and in a couple days the 2nd hdd starts doing the same thing. I replace the power supply thinking that might be a problem because of the monitoring software which I later find out is not supposed to be installed. I am using parts that cyberpower has sent me.
I put the original hdd back in and booted in DOS and did fdisk just to see if it would still make that noise .. and it did. So its not a windows thing.
I put in a 3rd drive and tried to install Windows 2000 and after it rebooted to finish the setup it loads up and then goes to some blue screen that says something totally worthless like
Hardware Failure

yeah right... like the vendor will have any idea what thats supposed to mean.
So it looks like I will have to send this back. THe system is a Duron 650 with 128 megs ram and a FIC AZ11 board. Both hdd are WD ... which I personally don't like, but still they should get the job done. So does this sound like a bad mobo ?
I doubt the CPU would do this... but with such a great error message that windows 2000 generates I have no idea what is really going on.
