Hi All,

I got new Artec DVD-Rom.
I plug in everything, but when I put in CD inside, it won't read it.
Just read like there's 1 song inside :(
Autoplay doesn't work

Any idea what should I do?
The jumper set properly.

Edit: have WinXP
So I just install the DVD-Rom as second CD.
The first one is CD-Writer.

When I put software or game in the DVD-Rom, it won't read.
It just read as music CD with only 1 song inside.
I already try different CD, burn one and original.

Still like that.

First, make a win98 boot disk if you don't have Win98 because you want to boot to DOS mode. Obtain a Windows 98 start-up disk to boot into DOS mode. You can download files to make a start-up disk from www.allsupport.net under downloads -> complete systems.

Enable CD-Rom support in DOS mode and try to read any CD. If that doesn't work, then return the unit and get another one.

Go from there...if it work, then something's not right with your system.

Have you tried more than 1 CD? I'm having a hard time understanding your English, but I'm under the impression that you're putting an audio CD in? It's possible that the CD is using a copy-protection method like Cactus Data Shield and that is keeping your computer from reading the disc.

1) Does it read real (ie: not burnt) Audio CDs?
2) Does it read data/software CDs ok?
3) Does it read DVDs ok?
4) Have you run a cleaning disc through it?
5) Have you tried it with differnt brands of CDR? CDRW? Burnt in different models of CDR or CDRW?
6) Have you checked Device Manager (or Event Log) for any errors or warnings?

check the jumper positions on the back of both as also in their cable(IDE) position of Master/Slave..make sure Master position is jumpered on the back of the Master drive Slave for the Slave.... I usually have the DVDRom as Master(jumpered as such)(end of IDE cable) and the CDRW as Slave(jumpered as such)(middle position on IDE ribbon cable)...unless the system is a pre-built like a Dell?compaq/HP or such..then its CS almost all devices....gl
