Hiya. My NEC 77F just turned off for no apparent reason. I was surfing the net, chatting a bit and doing some homework. All of a sudden, my moniter turns off. I have had this moniter for a few years, and it has served me well. I plugged the power cord into a different and I made sure the it was properly plugged into my video card. It was.

Anyway, I have about $250, so in case my moniter is broken, does anyone have recommendations for a new one? I mostly play games and watch movies, so I guess a CRT would be best, but if you find a nice LCD, don't hesitate to post it here.

Thanks

I don't get anything from the moniter at all. No power light, no idle screen, nothing.

Ricemarine, who makes the "710n"?

same thing happened to me with an NEC they are didgy and it was a few days after the 1 year warranty.. the power supply inside died and tookt he tube with it. Get a samsung LCD the prices for those are going down and they probably have the best picture quality and response time aside from viewsonic I believe you can get a 19inch syncmaster for about 269 if you chekc pricegrabber.

Dells use 8bit, 16ms panels - good for video, but you might want to look at a 6bit, 8ms panel if you're an avid gamer. The Hyundai L90D is a nice one for gaming. On the other hand, the 2005fpw is a badass monitor, and if you can get it for under $400 it'd be a pretty good deal.

This may sound stupid, but did you make sure the power cord was properly connected to the back of the monitor?
