Somebody pleeeeeze help me . I have built 3 systems lately with VIA chipsets . One was a Soyo , one a MSI , and the other a Giga-byte . All 3 run fine , but when they go to sleep mode , they will not wake up . You have to reboot . I know this is just a bios setting , but I can not figure out what the bios setting should be to allow the wake up .

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for all the components. One bad driver can prevent the device from waking, causing your comp to not wake. This is especially a problem with immature Win2k drivers.

Well I'm running Win98 SE on all 3 . I really feel it is a bios setting since I am not too familiar with the Via chipset bios and was not sure about some of the settings . Thanks

I agree about the bios settings. I have an Epox 8KTA+ and find the manual poor with regard to the power management settings. What's the difference between Standby, Doze, and Suspend modes anyway?

Standby and Sleep never worked right for me. Maybe I'm just thick. I disable all the settings in Bios except "user define." While the "always on" power management mode isn't as "green" as STR and Standby, setting 20/25/30 minutes works--and I can even "wake up" the machine. Unlike #^@#(*^!! Standby.
