you think you're dying? I haven't played cs in 7 months because I can't get all my hardware working at the same time lol, but that is besides the point, do you have dns enabled in network options?

AHHHHHHHHHHH! now that i fixxed the dns problem my modem only connects at 28.8k and 26.4k instead of 45-57k...wtf is up with that....god help me

Are you sure there isn't another computer on the line? Had any lightning storms lately in your area? Your modem could have been hit.
Try adjusting the properties of your modem to increase the max speed.
You could also try using another dial-up phone number. Maybe the # you've been calling before is experiencing a lot of traffic.

i dont think its the modem, ISP or phonline. cause i moved the modem to a cele300 used the same phonline/ISP and it worked fine...thats why i'm so confussed 😕

When you put in another modem, did you remove the original one from the Device Manager first? Try removing all the modems and their entries in Device Manager. Reboot w/o any modem installed. Then put it back in and load the drivers 1 more time.

This is a reach, but is there another computer on your network? It's possible, though unlikely, that your little brother may have enabled Internet Connection Sharing. If you don't have a network set up, ignore this.

Did you ever find out exactly what your brother did? Maybe he installed some strange software that monitors your Net traffic. Have you tried checking Add/Remove Programs for any unusual apps? I would check Cert and/or Symantec for files that could be sucking up your bandwidth.
Or maybe he tried to open a virus-infected .exe or file without scanning it first?

call your isp, and tell them that you cannot connect to their servers at the speeds that you are paying for (I assume you pay for 56k access) ask them if they have changed anything on their side?
