No, I'm really just spouting off about the potential for managed languages. I don't know where microsoft is with .net, but I don't think anybody's yet built a vm that can consistently beat c/c++ consistently in a wide range of tests. I would still expect c/c++ to win most battles at this point.

At any rate, optimization is such a tricky thing that I'm not sure I would take any tests seriously if they weren't done by an actual research team that were experts in runtime/compilation related things. No offence.
