Find out what class she failed (if any). Purchase course textbook at www.ecampus.com and some gift wrap. Need I say more? Education IS the greatest gift.

lol,m that would suck! its like saying, hey dummy... you should read up on this...
how about buying her books for her next quarter's classes?
Don't give her the DVD's. You can give her the DVD's at any time. They do well for a "It's Tuesday and I love you and I want to surprise you" gift.
Firstly - IS she a romantic person, the lovey dovey stuff wont get you very far if she would prefer Hardware or Tools (I am being serious).
Secondly - In the end its the thought that counts, and she will love anything that you give her, because you gave it to her.
Thanks for all the input guys, but I know the dvds sound cheesy, but that was her favorite show. The jewelry and purse stuff, no way.....I am not going to have my gift returned damnit she is a picky person when it comes to looks. As for the romantic stuff, that comes along with the birthday of course.
Your gift to her should be from your heart, it should be a reflection of how you feel for her. Exspensive items do not always make thoughtful gifts. Since she is a woman, and especially since she is your girlfriend, something from the Dollar Store won't go very well with her. It is her birthday, afterall.
eh - it's thoughtful but it's more like a 1 minute to think of it and another 30 minutes to pick it up gift rather than one that clearly has some time spent over it. Maybe you can get a combo w/ the DVD set and a personalized card.
