Help!! My computer keeps resetting itself every 15minutes

I can't figure out why. I turned off screen saver and switched my powermanagement features off so it doesn't turn off harddrive automatically. To be safe I also checked my cpu temp which is 52 so it's not at the autoshutdown temp. I'm using win2000 pro on an amd 1.33, in case that helps. I have an antivirus scanner that scans emails and exe files so I don't think it's a virus. There's no errors, just suddenly resets. Any suggestions?
 
I had an MSI K7 Pro that would do that. It'd work fine for a month, then spend a day restarting every few min. Sometimes it wouldn't get through booting before it restarted again.

It was a bad motherboard.
 
I've had this mobo for a few months now. I recently noticed that other than the resetting, sometimes I get a blue screen that says something about memory dump(?) and then the computer freezes. Any ideas what this is?
 
Check you Event Log and turn off your auto-restart on error.
Event Log will at least give clues to whats going on.
 
Did you recently add or change hardware?

I had this problem with a Powersupply. Simply keept rebooting out of the blue. If you can (and I am not sure how up to snuff you are with the inner workings of your PC) change the Powersupply with a new one and see what happens.
This can happen due to 2 things.

  1. Your Powersupply is about to die
    Your Powersupply can't handle the load anymore

Sorry if this is a stupid question, how do I check event log and turn off reboot on error? My computer is less than a year old so I hope the power supply isn't dying so quickly. It's a 400watt, so it should be able to handle what I have inside. It's an allied brand not a unknown generic. I'm still curious what memory dump means.

Ah yes, didn't even think about this. It should be in Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery, for Windows XP and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been moved much since Win2K. If you have autoreboot turned off and BSODs turnd on, and still have the rebooting problem (my situation) then look into hardware issues.
 
I changed settings in control panel to take off automatically reboot under system failure. Problem still exists. I noticed underneath that is "write debugging information" and I have small memory dump (64kb) selected. Is that the wrong option? this must be related to the problem because sometimes the computer crashes due to memory dump problem. Any ideas, or is it still a hardware issue w/ the power supply? Thanks.
 
I have a BRAND NEW Allied PSU sitting at home in a box having exactly that problem. Get yourself another PSU from a local place that lets you return stuff. Test if that is the problem, if not ... great... but it smells like a PSU problem.
I haven't had a chance to send it back to them yet, so I don't even know how good they are. But you having the same starts to worry me a little. I thought I was a fluke... but this doesn't sound so good.
