Hello-

My brother just went upgrading, and he now has the following config

Biostar m7vkb
thunderbird 1100
voodoo 5500 agp
generic network card
sb live value card

His problem occurs when running games--they pause and move jerkily. It is most obvious in halflife. I told him about the via 4 in 1's but they didn't seem to help. I'd go over and help him but I don't have time this week. Any suggestions? He's going to try and remove the sb live card--maybe that will help. Thanks

Is the network setup correctly? Is it polling the network? If he uses dialup, make sure the network card isn't pining the network with tcpip, just remove tcpip for the card.

That system is simluar to mine, you should not see any jerky movements HL. Its probably not vieo related, unless he has 4x FSAA with high res and just getting low fps.

I have a Biostar M7VKB but a version 1.1 which has the via southbridge 686a...if he just bought the mobo chances are he has version 2.0 which has the southbridge 686b and the sblive can have a known effect with this chip.

Get the via 4 in 1's 4.31 betas as they have the soon to be released via official fix...get it at www.viatech.com or www.viahardware.com.

I agree that I would also check the nic card for your current problem as the above fix could help alleviate future problems. Via sblive bug usually cause full freeze ups or corrupted data while burning and such.
