Alright guys, I need your help. Basically I got a cheap CPU/MOBO combo from a guy that said he was having problems with his system. The MOBO is an Asus A7N8X Deluxe and the CPU is a Barton 2500+.
The system runs fine and works great BUT, the CPU seems to only have 128K L2 cache instead of the usual 512K for the Barton CPU's. This is reported by CPUZ, WCPUID, Sisoft Sandra etc... Mine look identical to THIS except where his says 512k L2 cache, mine says 128k.
I am a newbie to AMD systems (always been a Intel guy), but what do you guys recommend trying? BIOS update/rollback? I'm not sure. Also, the stepping for the CPU is AQUCA, does anyone know if this is retail or OEM for warranty purposes? Whats involved in a AMD RMA? Is it difficult, do I need a receipt? I have a retail AMD HSF that was included so I am thinking this is a retail CPU.
Also, could the mobo be causing the problem?
Thx, Jon...
