Hiya... i have recently brought an Athlon socket a 1GHZ & abit kt7-raid combo. I am using a Coolermaster Copper heatsink and fan and yesterday, checked the tempreture of the cpu, and its running at 48 C.. the machine had been running all day, but all the same, i am a bit worried... I hear that athlons run hot anyway so i shouldnt worry too much. However, i am worried in case i fry my new proc. Also, the system temp was about 28 C at the same time... any idea's?

Cheers

My 1.1gig runs at 48-52C at a full load, if it hits above 60C start throwing some water at it. 🙂

two t-birds running 1Ghz on A7V's ... 98 - 111 F with the standard heatsink and fan that came with the cpus.

Don't be so WET. Do you know what 48C is?- 60C is the hottest water your body can take (externally), above is scalding. 48C is only 11 above your body temperature. It will feel nice and warm, that's all.

*BTW that coolermaster has got bad reviews. You could cool your processor more with most a GlobalWin, Alpha, Taisol....

hey all,

thanks for the info... i didnt really know what sort of cpu temp i should be expecting - i was alarmed because the abit monitoring software sets an alarm when the temp hits 50C - Now i guess thats a default value of no importance... Once again.. thanks for your help!

Steelo ,My own 900mhz T-bird temp is between 42c & 47c for full load so your temp is fine, you could had some case cooling fans like Sunon 80 mm if you want extra cooling.

🙂
