Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on this!

The setup:

Moving from 160 gb to 1TB, both are sata

Partition 1 is winXP on ntfs, set as active
Partition 2 is Win 7, ntfs obviously

Bootloader is the win7 boot manager

Bought acronis disk director suite, install new disk, copy MBR from old disk -> new. use copy partition functionality in acronis to copy both partitions (in same order) to new disk (but with bigger size), set the first partition on the new disk as active.

The problem:

Boot off of new (1TB) disk. Get 0xc000000e error, so boot from win7 dvd, do repair which claims startup problem fixed.

boot again, os load starts, the final text mode acronis bit shows up which says AUTOCHK not found, then system reboots again endlessly.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Why not just clone the old drive to the new drive using Acronis TI 2009 Proportional (Manually from Rescue Media.)? I have DisikDirector, but never considered it as having a cloning utility.

Once the basic small drive is cloned to the 1TB, then use DD to create the second partition.

Thanks for the advice. I bought Acronis MigrateEasy, it first copied and resized the partitions, THEN copied the MBR and everything worked OK (without having to run startup repair). Not sure why disk director didn't work (copy mbr first versus after the partitions??), but at least my system is up and running on the new disk.

Anyone interested in my copy of DD?
