Help - Mouse Freezes Randomly on Vista Install???

I have a Sony Z laptop. It has two graphucs modes, Stamina and Speed. When I have it on Stamina mode, the mouse freezes for about 2 to 3 seconds after almost any amount of inactivity. If I do noting for 30 seconds, the system takes 3 seconds to respond to any mouse movements. I can also hear the hard drive spin up when it does this.

I have a feeling it is a poor implemenetaoion of some sort of power management software that is built into the OS by Sony. Its driving me nuts. Any suggestions (other than keeping it in Speed mode which kills the battery too fast)???

Let me guess...

Hrm...

I give up!

Sorta sounds like a hardware problem (which is bad)...

Mouse and laptop don't compute - never seen a lappy that comes with a mouse - please explain!

Please don't tell me you bought a Logitech mouse and installed MouseWare, or whatever they call it.

If you have a Logitech mouse and installed the drivers - no big deal. They're kinda like a benign virus, and can be removed with a little work.

I'm just saying... 😉

Try to configure the power options through Sony's software, preferably. If you can't find anything there, head over to Control Panel\Power Options. Sounds like your laptop is suspending the disk and USB after only 30s... 😵;
