HELP motherboard won't see processor

I have an ECS K7S5A motherboard and I can not get it to boot. I do not get any beep codes or anything it is completely silent. I thought the processor had gone bad so I bought a new one and it still does not work. Then I tried the other processor in a different computer and it seems to work fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how I could go about fixing it?

Do you have any idea of anything I can try to definently find out if the motherboard is dead? Or anything I can try to try and get this up and working again?

1. Ensure board is not shorted. Easy way to do this is to remove from case, set up on piece of foam that it shipped with.

2. Ensure that CMOS jumper is in correct spot.

3. Check Ram, video card. Remove them, examine, re-insert.

Give it another try. If these fail, it may be time to RMA/exchange the board.

Try unhooking all unecessary devices. Just CPU, ram (1 stick) and video. Nothing else. If it boots, start adding things one at a time. If none of that works, try taking the mobo out of the case and booting it without it touching anything. A short between the mobo and the case can cause this problem as well.

I have tried all of this. I also have tried booting with nothing in the board except the processor and heatsink to see if I would atleast get to a beep code. nothing. this board is about a year old. i don't think i can rma it.

Hey - stupid question, but does the power supply work?

Perhaps it has died. Try a different one, or check for juice using a multi-meter, possibly.

Sorry that you're having troubles.

Regards

i am pretty sure the power supply is working because the fans on processor and video card as well as the case fan all spin up. is this an accurate assumption?
