Problem:
Suddenly my screen stretches horizontally for about .5 inch left and right, u can only see half of the start button and systray clock is nowhere to be found. And then starts to shake violently, not as serious as a fuzzy channel on TV, but something like that, enough to make me depower it immediately...

I tried demagnetize, moving all my speakers and cordless mouse receiver to the floor and de-powered all other pheripherals, but it's the same, this is a new trinitron monitor I got about 1 week ago.

Anybody have ideas what went wrong? could it be my video card(voodoo3) or my monitor?

BIG THANKS to ur help!

IMHO, I would point at the monitor, as long as you didn't have any prob with your old monitor. If you did have a prob with the old monitor, then I would swing my point to the vid card. Could be the .inf for the monitor as well, doubtfull tho/ have you checked the web for an updated .inf for the monitor yet?

The .inf driver is the latest, I'l try to switch monitor and video card to see what happens...if all fails, then I have to return this sweet(once) monitor and buy a diamondtron or something...

I suspect the problem to be magnetic field, but there is nothing around my monitor right now, except a printer.

While you'll all say I'm crazy, it IS possible for nearby power lines to cause these types of problems. Wires in the wall, floor, ceiling or even outside your house that carry a high current (A/C unit, washer, dryer, stove, water heater, toaster) CAN cause the screen to shake or distort. Try the monitor in someone else's house and see what happens. Move it to another part of your room or even another room in the house just to see if the problem persists. If the power supplied to your neighborhood is "dirty" (old wires/transformers) you may never get a monitor to work properly.

Boobers, I don't think your crazy 1 bit/ I know security systems and whatnot mess with ethernet, so your idea certainly makes sense.
