My mobo's chipset fan got dislodged from its circular heatsink and it overheated.... and I think I rubbed off some of the heat-transfering gel onto my hands!

All info I know of it is the mobo is from A-Bit , probably an IS-7 series.
The heatsink is circular with the perimeter raised.
The fan for it is powered by 2 thin wires and the fan itself is attached to the heatsink by 3 screws.
The plastic holes for the screws which come out of the fan however are messed up and I can't screw them back.

The oddest thing yet is that the fan is just a fan fanblade with a small base. I've never seen anything like it before

I've tried searching newegg to no avail...
someone please guide me in resovling my problem :(

You can get a replacement ( if you want it ) from excaliberPC.com - but those Abit fans don't seem to last long. That site lists a very short warranty on the replacements...
. Much better to go to SVC.com et al. and get a nice big passive heat sink!

I'm pretty sure he means this. This is also the hs I'm going to get to replace my nb water block.

I just ordered a Spire CoolForce II VGA cooler from HERE. From what I understand, the GF4 video card coolers have the same spacing holes as the NB coolers. I know for a fact that the GF3's and ATI 9x00'a don't fit.

I would think that some one here has tried a GF4 cooler on their NB by now, Any comments?
