All I was getting at is it's not the same... FPS games absolutely rule on PC's. no question about it. not to mention with the better resolutions of a PC monitor, and not a TV, even the latest consoles won't look as nice as a good PC game on a good monitor.

It is not the same, you are right. However, that is because it is better on a console, and only one: the Nintendo Revolution. I need not explain.

Oh, and MBrown, you can only use the keyboard and mouse on PS2 or Xbox with certain games, though I don't know which ones.

yea i can't wait to play fps games on the revolution...that's gonna be awesome.

i'm torn between the ps3 and the revolution 🙁

which one to get first. preorder a 360 or get a 7800gt now. I already have games now that would benifit a whole lot from a new videocard anyway so its a pretty good choice. Like I said I have a 6600vanilla. you can just imagine how that is playing fear, doom, farcry at high settings. I cant play them on high settings with my 6600 vanilla

Well, just wait until we see what games are going to be available for each, reviews, price (PS3!), any problems with the systems, etc. etc.

That's all next year, though, so we have a while to wait and speculate. Anyway, we really haven't seen any games from either of the two.

No kidding, I have been guilty of the same math. Buy an xbox, upgrade my tv and several games or add money and buy top of the line computer. But computers are fun in other ways and hard to add that into the formula.

Xbox 360....... what is that priced at? $500? f*ck no, I heard you can't even play backwards games on it... meaning regular xbox games won't be playable on xbox 360 whereas playstation games are playable on ps2. anyone confirm this?

Clarification time! Xbox 360 Core (Let's say SE or LE) Version is $299, and Premium Version is $399, so the $399 one is the price one should base the cost of buying a 360 off of. Now, only "the most popular" Xbox games will be playable on the 360, I'm not sure why, but I think it has something to do with the type of emulation it uses. Additionally, the Nintendo Revolution can play all GameCube games and Nintendo's past console releases can be downloaded and played on the Revolution for a small fee, making the console very appealing in terms of backwards compatibility. As for the PS3, I do not know if it can play PS2 or PS games in the way that the PS2 can play PS games...

ps3 will be compatible with ps2+ps games. you can hook up your psp to it too if you have to? don't know why you would 😛

Just like R520 benchmarks, noone really knows for sure about the Revolution or PS3. XBox360 we will find out about soon enough. (and the R520 for that matter.)

I kinda thinking of skipping the 360 for the ps3.....or I might want to put the money towards gettin my a Tama Starclassic Maple. My mapex mars series is too beginerish for me now. I need to step up. 🙂

Because... the PSP is just a $250 PS3 controller with a 5" screen (or whatever size it is).

The 7800 GT is an excellent choice.

I got caught up in the e3 hype until july, then I cam back to PCs and bought my GTX in september.

I dont regret it at all, Im lovin it. I upgraded from a 6600 GT.

^I cant wait really. expecially cuz Im comming from a 6600 vanilla. The improvement will be just as great as yours.

I still far prefer the PC game design/gameplay/graphics over consoles I am becoming more and more saddened by the lack of good titles to purchase for my PC. I used to buy about 1 to 2 games a month. This month I ended up picking up Warcraft 3 expansion pack because there's nothing new that I am interested in. Still, I would love to run Doom 3 with everything turned up on a 7800... mmmmmmm

The reason why I havent bought any games for my pc is becuase I didnt have to video card to do it...now I can. I might pick up farcry and hl2. I have doom 3 already but now Ill be able to play it at ultra settings 🙂 And Ill be all set for quake 4.

I don't really buy PC games, either, but I only have half of your reason: That being that I do not have a decent enough graphics card (Getting a 6600 GT very soon, I hope). The other, more important reason, is that there are not enough buyable titles on the PC (for me). I don't like playing the same FPSs over and over again (Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark were/are plenty enough for me), I don't like the style of strategy games on the PC, and I don't like sports games. That only leaves one genre on the PC: MMORPGs. These are the only reason I play any games on the PC, along with other RPGs for the PC. Also, the only MMORPG I like is Final Fantasy XI, but I also like other ORPGs like Phantasy Star Online, etc.

Apparently. But the games have to support them, and apparently Quake 4 will NOT support them. You made a good choice IMO; Quake 4 will run much better on your computer, and there won't be many amazing games out for Xbox at launch.
