Ok my friend just bought a new PNY 6800 GT from compusa. Now whenever he tries and plays Counter-strike Source he only gets around 30-40 fps. We have double checked and all his settings are on low and he still gets around 30-40 fps.

His system specs are below...
P4 2.6 Ghz
1 Gig of memory
500 watt PSU

He used to have an ATI 9500 before he had the 6800 GT. One thing we havent done is used driver cleaner. We have installed the latest 66.93 drivers

What resolution is he gaming on, and are AA and AF enabled?
The score doesn't seem way off, plus the CPU is kinda old.

We check the aa and af and those are on none I think one is on 2x but I dont know which.

The other problem that I was thinking was that his processor was kinda old. Do you think a 754 mobo and a 3000+ would make a difference?

That is probably about right if the game is cranked pretty high. HL2 even puts the hurt on my FX55, 256 6800 Ultra system. I can make it a lag a little

Try installing some of the beta drivers found in the sticky post. The latest one (from Sparkle) boosted my 3Dmark05 by like 300 points, maybe it would help your friend's games too.

The 2.6 is still no slouch, but the 3000+ would probably make a difference - don't expect landslides though. IMO, it really wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade to spend the money on. The P4 he has should bridge the gap until PCIe mobo's and video cards become commonplace.
