ok i was trying to burn a cd right, so i burn the cd like i always do but this time it said the disk in the recorder is not the proer media for this prject. insert a blank cd or a cd with enough free space to the record the project. but it wont read the disk that is the problem the e drive wont read any cd how can i fix this anyone smart enough plz help me

so you're drive is recognizing any disc that you put in it or is it just not recognizing blank media? if its not reading any disc, double check your connections to the drive and the ide header on the motherboard, possibly try swapping in another ide cable to see if that has any effect. if that doesn't help, you might have a dead/dieing drive on your hands.

i dont knoe alot about pc but i just got a 40 gb but i dont knoe alot about pc so what should i do

RMA it if can't read any CD at all.
Ops! do double confirm by swapping the IDE cable with hdd, or even IDE connector on MB to make very sure.

Double means return it, if it won't read any CDs 😉

To be sure, you can change the gray, flat cables inside the computer (IDE cables); make sure they're installed properly, and change the cable leading to the hard drive with the one leading to your CD drive. This way, you can make sure it's not a problem with the cable. If both the CD and the Hard Drive are on the same cable, don't mess with them - the problem won't be the cable.
