Help me with scanner

Hi, I want to buy a scanner. I don't know which scanner I want to buy because there are so many brands. I know the hp and epson have many good scanners. Can somebody tell me which scanner is good? My budget is around $150.
How about Canon CanoScan series? Are they good? I like them because they are very slim compared to other scanners.
What is the difference between flatbed and sheetfed?

I have a canon canoscan and i love it. It *is* much slimmer than most others, and works great

i have a 1200 series, but the 600's are also good (and only run about 99 bucks).

I have a Canoscan and I like it. Not only does it have a small fooprint, it is also gets it's power from the usb.
Works like a charm with XP. Great scanner..

My mom and 3 of my friends have Canoscans, all like them. Especially my friends with laptop computers, they carry the computer and scanner in the same bag, pretty handy.

I have had it with my Visionner scanner. It pauses my system for about 20-30 seconds after logging in. (windows XP) I am going to best buy this week to get another scanner. Has anyone using these Canoscan scanners experience any pauses during boot up? Like after logging in, the system just sits there, then the scanner makes some noise, then nothing for a little longer then finally the desktop comes up?

TIA

Edit: I was looking at this model :link. Anyone try this one ?

I have the Cannoscan and love it. It doesnt cause any pauses on my computer with XP at boot. The quality is great but if you are looking to do some serious graphics stuff then I would go with one of the Epsons from what I hear.

I am not looking to get a top of the line scanner, since I scan a only a few times a year, and then it is only to put up pic on a website. I will not be doing photos with the scanner. So If there is not problems with these canoscans, I will get me one. Anyone try this model yet?

TIA

If you aren't going to be carrying it around, getting the Canon slim scanners might be a waste. Go check out your brick and mortar stores and try to buy a display model. I got an awesome Epson 610U scanner for around $35!
