Hi -
this question has probably been asked over a hundered times in this forum, but, with technology changing so rapidly - here it goes gain -
Basically, I need to build a system for light to moderating gaming, some home video editing, tv , dvd and music, internet , email etc.
Since, I am trying to keep by budget fairly low - here's what I am planning to get -
AMD Athlon 939 3200+
Epox 9NDA3J or Soltek K8TPro-939 (please help me decide)
CORSAIR VALUE SELECT 2*512MB PC3200 RAM Need help again!
NEC-3500 DVD-RW
Here's what I already have :
HYUNDAI L90D+
COOLERMASTER CAVALIER 3 CASE
ZALMAN 400 WATT PS
MAXTOR 160Gb HDD
XFX GeForce 5700LE AGP CARD
The last system I built was in 1999 - Pentium 3 650MHZ - so, I am fairly new to this technology, which, is a little unnerving for me. Although, I could have bought a DELL, HP and such, I am really looking forward to the whole learning experience of building my desktop. However, I do have a few questions -
1) MAINBOARD - I have been reading a lot on the Epox and Soltek. Can you please tell me which provides me with a more stable setup. I will not be overclocking a lot - but, an extra 200 mhz would be great!
2) RAM - This one is more challenging for me. I am very confused between brands and such. I would really appreciate recommendations on this one while keeping my budget around $150.00 - $180.00. Which is the most stable / compatible memory for these boards, while providing the most bang for the buck ?
Thanks,
Vik
