I have a D-Link DI-524 router. I brought my computer home from the dorm and since the router is on the other side of the house, I decided to buy this wireless PCI adapter. The computer that I'm on right now (my mom's) already has a D-Link PCI wireless adapter and is running on the network fine and obviously has internet access.

I put in the new PCI card in my computer and installed the driver/untility on the CD. I found my WPA secure network and connected to it with no problems. DHCP is disabled on the router, so I put in all the correct TCP/IP info needed for the wireless connection, I do this for all the computers connected to the router.

The problem is that I can't access the internet or anything. I ping the other computers on the network and I get no response. What can I do to get it to work?

EDIT: I meant DHCP not DNS

Check here ... http://www.ezlan.net/

Click on the Wireless tab for all details on how to set up wireless
Normally, you let the Router assign the IP thru DHCP
For wireless, you need to Input the WIreless Adapter Card's MAC Address in the
router and set it's encryption type & password both in the pc & the router

On your pc, be sure it is set to obtain the ip automatically

You may need to reboot the router & pc after you make the changes

I've resetup everything the way it said in the link you provided. However, I have DHCP disabled, so I have the IPs manually assigned because DHCP was giving me problems before. That shouldn't be the problem since my mom's computer is on wireless with the IP set manually. The computer that is having problems can connect to the router perfectly fine, the computer says it has a good signal and is connected and the router says the computer's MAC address listed as connected over wireless. I just can't seem to get onto the network or get internet.

Enable DHCP. Remove the D-Link garbage ware. Download the latest driver from the internet. Reboot PC and load the driver. Reboot PC again. The card should see the wireless network. Enter password if required. Make sure you shutdown the firewall to avoid initial connection problem.
