Help me with my DURON!

I just bought a Duron 700, and running in at 850MHz requires 1.725V and the temp jumps up to 48C. This is on an Abit KT7, and I have a coolermaster CPU fan. Ambient temperature is about 26C, and case temp is about 29C.

What's doing??

BTW, the 48C is under full load (on the net with RC5 and SETI on in the background)

EDIT: I am using Arctic Silver too dammit. :(

Try remounting the HSF again. If the temperature still doesn't change, then the CoolerMaster is the problem. They aren't the best performing heatsinks for overclocking.

Dexion, I have remounted the heatsink twice so far actually (that was a bi7ch of a job!!). I think the CPU is pretty poor itself, so I might try a new cooler. What temp should I expect to get?

P.S. If anyone can think of anything I may have done wrong, please tell me!!

Well, the temperature would be somewhat "norm" in the mid or low 40s. I personally don't think its the Duron though, which CoolerMaster are you using? The Copper or the Aluminum one?

I'm running a Duron 650 with the coolermaster fan you have, and radioshack thermal paste, 1.8v at 850mhz, under load temp 40c

I have the 650 Duron w/ FOP32 on the MSI Pro 2. Right now I am at 750 at one step up in voltage. I am waiting for Micron PC133 / 128 Mg SDRAM, and hope to get it up to 850 at that time. This chip is unlocked, and I really thought I had a hot number, but so far 800 was as high as it would go, but not that atable.
It may be this PNY PC100 ram I am using (64 mg.).

I don't like your cpu temp. I'm running my Duron 800 at 1007mhz with an Alpha PAL6035 heatsink using Sunon 23cfm 60mm fan. 1.850 for cpu voltage. I am also using arctic silver. But you are running at !!48*C!! The highest i've ever seen my cpu temp get to was around 46*C. And that is during gaming. Normally at this speed I run at around 39-41*C.

I don't know how your coolermaster performs so i can't say anything about it. But I follow the others by saying "try remounting your hsf". If that doesn't work, try getting a new hsf.

**oh yeah, i'm running with one of the side panels of my case off. (i don't have any case cooling)

don't know why the temp would be that high if the HSF is making good contact with the cpu, unless the HSF is just not a very well made or designed. seem way too high.
650 Duron @1000 1.82v 35 cpu idle 40-41 gaming stock Taisol HSF with AS grease.

I'm going to try a new HSF tomorrow hopefully. Any recommendations?? I have a feeling that the base of my current HSF is not altogether flat. Would it really make that much difference??

BTW, It seems like I can change the voltage from 1.6 to 1.85 with only a 2-3 degree change in temperature. But if I up the CPU speed by 50MHz (from 800-850) the temp jumps about 4C alone.
